There’s nothing quite like the sound of a roaring engine.
Unless, of course, it’s the roar of a packed crowd at the G.B. Hodge Center.
On Wednesday, January 21, the worlds of high-speed NASCAR racing and gritty Big South basketball collided for the annual Jeremy Clements Night at USC Upstate. As a long-time partner of Jeremy Clements Racing (JCR), the team here at Spartan Waste was thrilled to be right in the middle of the action, celebrating our hometown hero and the Spartanburg community.
A Livery That Stole the Show
If you were near “The Hodge” on Wednesday, you couldn’t miss it. Parked right out front was the iconic #51 Chevrolet, but with a special twist. To honor the university, the car featured a custom USC Upstate livery, complete with the Spartan logo front and center on the hood.
It was great to see the #51 decked out in the USC Upstate livery right at the entrance. Plenty of fans stopped by to check out the detail on the car and take some photos before the game got underway.
A Great Night for Spartanburg
Inside the Hodge Center, the atmosphere was a perfect blend of local sports and racing. It was great to see the community come out to support both the USC Upstate basketball team and our local racing hero.
Jeremy Clements, a Spartanburg native, spent the evening catching up with fans and talking about the upcoming season. With the #51 team gearing up for a big year, it was a nice opportunity for everyone to show their support before his schedule gets busy on the national circuit.
“We’re proud to support events that bring school spirit and the Spartanburg community together,” says the Spartan Waste team. “Seeing the fans engage with Jeremy and the car reminds us why we love doing what we do in this community.”
The Wait is Over: Daytona is Here
While Jeremy Clements Night was a fun way to bridge the gap between seasons, the real action starts right now. Tomorrow, February 14, Jeremy takes the green flag at Daytona International Speedway to officially begin the 2026 season.
We are proud to have the Spartan Waste logo on the #51 Chevrolet again this year. We’ll be cheering Jeremy on from Spartanburg as he takes on the high banks of Daytona and carries our community pride to the national stage.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Hodge Center to make Jeremy Clements Night such a success. Let’s go racing!
